Perhaps the best free audio tool that you can use on a PC is Audacity,
Audacity is a free downloadable audio recording and editing application which is available for most computers.
(If you own a Mac you can also use Audacity but you may choose to use Garage Band because of the music loops etc that Garage Band has built in.) Oceanaudio is another cross platform audio editor which is a free download.

A new version of the Audacity software has just been released this week which may mean that some of the instructions in the movies below have changed slightly, (apologies for that). Most of procedures are still the same however.

Because Audacity is open source software the installation process involves a couple of steps which need to be followed closely.
These movies from Florin High explore some of the basics of working with Audacity.
(Note: As a Deakin students, IF you are working on a Deakin Desktop computer then you can go to Atomic Learning to learn more about Audacity and a number of other popular applications.)
